Communication is required not only for good human relations but also for a successful business. Communication seeks to fulfill the basic functions such as to inform, to persuade and to promote goodwill. Communication involves sharing information, ideas, thoughts, opinions and plans between various parts of an organization. Therefore just giving directives without expecting a response is naive as it requires the attachment of some meaning to the message sent or received. In a large organization communicating effectively still proves to be a difficult task as communication sometimes takes place over a number of channels and so retaining the basic meaning is literally challenging. Communication seeks to inform individuals so that they are more aware of what is necessary in order to perform a task or to function within the organization. Information such as work ethics, production, benefits, safety regulations and training are just some of the things that employees are informed of maintain successful operation of the organizations. This will also help in the decision making process as employees will act on the best information available to them. Likewise, communication helps in persuading individuals to perform at a level that they would not ordinarily do. Managers often use open communication to influence others to perform the tasks required to achieve organizational goals. This open communication allows individuals to freely share mutual experiences, preferences, likes and dislikes. It also enables managers to create a climate for motivation, that is, a manager’s ability to influence the desired behaviour for performance depends on his ability to effectively communicate with his direct reports and staff at all levels. Communication also enables people to learn how they are doing at their jobs and how performance is being measured, as this is the heart of employee performance appraisals. Communication is necessary to attain managerial function. One such function is promoting good will. Many companies dedicate a whole department for this purpose while others just has one individual. Companies tend to be vigilant this area due to the tax benefits as well as a means of advertising as this goodwill helps in protecting their corporate image. By doing so they advertise a lot, give a way grant, gifts and other benefits to needy persons and shelters in and around their communities as well as on a national scale. For example Bank of Nova Scotia, Sandals and Courts just to name a few. Many managers have come to realize that having an open and effective communication can help in accomplishing organizational goals and objectives. Employees who are properly informed and are able to express themselves without having to go through the chain of command will be more motivated to produce. Technical Developments Essay With the increase in the success of record sales came the need to introduce methods to diminish manufacturing costs in order to increase profit margins. Nowhere was this need more prevalent than with the independent record companies in the industry for they had the most to gain let alone survive. After the demise of Germany, German technology made its way across the Atlantic to America. One of these technical break through was the ability to store audio information on magnetic tape. Magnetic tape was a process where Iron Oxide embedded on plastic tape could be magnetized by amplified electrical impulses for the purpose of recording and playing back audio information. It offered editing of performances, portability, and better audio quality and was significally cheaper than the existing technologies. In the USA a company that made Scotch tape called 3M improved the abilities of magnetic tape, allowing recording speeds of 30 ips to be brought down to 15 ips and 71/2 ips with little quality loss but significantly longer recording times. In 1948 Bell laboratories introduced the Transistor to America. Transistor technology could do everything the Vacuum tube at a reduced cost. It required less power, was smaller in size and more durable. Soon the recording studio became portable and could easily be torn down and set-up if the need arisen. Most importantly, the AM radio was created and could be found in the private confines of a teenagers bedroom. It might be hard to believe, but parents would warn their kids about the evils of listening to new music all by oneself. This new advent in technical breakthroughs sparked interest with the major players in the industry like CBS and RCA. Over at CBS the laboratories invented High Fidelity, a new method of improving the record. The Long-Playing record was invented that increased the number of grooves for the playing speed was lowered from 78 rpm to 33 rpm. Because the speed was lowered and the grooves now smaller, the smaller diamond stylus replaced the larger sapphire stylus. The new stylus needed to use lesser pressure allowing the LPs to last a lot longer. Over at RCA, engineers were developing similar technology. They invented a smaller sized record that revolved at 45 rpm. The size of the 45 and the fact that they only played one song worked very well for the jukebox owners. The 33-rpm LP worked well for playing records that offered more than one song and could sell for more money. With the new technical advances, records emerged as a relatively inexpensive medium compared to the overall production costs of Radio, film and Television, With this new trend, smaller independent record companies could compete with the larger companies and naturally they grew in stature and power. Records soon became the mainstay of radio and by 1952 record sales surpassed sheet music sales as a source of revenue in the music business. No longer was the jukebox the main resource for record promotion, radio with its new personalities would make sure of that. The main broadcasting format was AM amplitude modulation, even though FM frequency modulation had been around for a while. FM was in conflict with the introduction of TV for it existed in the VHF bandwidth that TV also shared, and had to take a back seat to AM even though its broadcasting quality was better. It was obvious to the broadcasting companies that the future lied in TV and radio would always be secondary. A compromise was made with Fm broadcasters and TV when TV allowed FM to operate on channel 1 on the TV station dial. It was later shifted to a bandwidth between 88-108 megacycles (between channels 6 and 7 where in now lives today. This proved to be devastating for FM broadcasters for not too many people were interested in buying an FM radio. In 1946 there were almost 7 million AM radios and less than 75,000 FM radios, and it would be a long time until TV was thoroughly entrenched that FM would start to emerge as a broadcaster for classical radio. With the development of TV came the fatal blow to network radio, for the large advertisers were much more interested in sponsoring TV programming than radio. But radio managed to survive via the Independent broadcasters that could rely on local advertisers for revenues, what we call today Retail verses the Corporate advertising of the major broadcasters. It is amazing to acknowledge the efforts and the luck of the independents in their pursuit of good music.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Health Promotion is the process of motivating people and empowering communities to adapt lifestyle and behavioural changes to improve their health. This process involves various interventions to reach individuals, high-risk groups, communities, health sectors and law makers to engage in adapting behaviours relative to improved health and wellness. Disease Prevention concentrates on ways or strategies to lessen the risk of growing continual illnesses and other incidence of morbidities. It consists of different levels of prevention that involves measures to eradicate diseases, diagnose diseases, learn the causal factors and signs to look after, treatment, rehabilitation and reduction of disability to live a normal lifestyle as possible. Health promotion and disease prevention addresses different health determinants (personal, social, environmental, economic factors) that affect health status which changes manageable risk behaviours. There are different approaches for health promotion that aims to improve health by bringing change in an individuals health perspective and that of the community. These are: 1) Medical, 2) Lifestyle Behavioural, 3) Social/Political 4) Environmental, 5) Educational Empowerment. An attempt to change health perspective amongst individual is by communicating messages that is relevant to them. For a positive change to arise, people should understand why an area of concern is significant and that the practices different from their current ones need to be pursued. I. Initiatives for Disease Prevention (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Prevention) Primary Prevention It focuses on preventing the onset of the diseases. That means minimizing exposure to hazards and increase immunity/resistance to diseases that can affect an individuals health. Of all the disease prevention levels, primary prevention targets larger populations. Example: Health campaigns, encouraging children with regular tooth brushing to avoid tooth decay, improving physical activities, mass media campaigns. Increasing knowledge through education. Promote lifestyle changes. Mandating health policies (use of personal protective equipment, no smoking, liquor ban). Immunization programs. Health programs for high-risk groups (Maori, youth, children under five years, non-immune migrants). Handwashing to avoid contamination. Secondary Prevention/Early Detection It aims to detect diseases before any manifestations and early treatment to control the progress of the disease. Hence, reduce complications and preventing relapse. Interventions include early diagnosis through screening and teaching people early signs of disease and what symptoms to watch for. Example: Regular GP visits, routine blood sugar monitoring, screening tests (Pap Smear, Newborn Screening, HIV, Blood tests, Colonoscopy, Mammography), chemoprophylaxis to prevent infection (administering antibiotics) Tertiary Prevention It is concerned on rehabilitation and reduce disability for re/irreversible conditions and late stage diseases. The goal of tertiary prevention is to improve a persons quality of life, providing comfort, and reduce suffering. Example: Physical therapy, Cardiac rehabilitation following heart surgery (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), stroke rehabilitation, follow-up examinations to identify metastasis, support groups, hospice care, palliative care. Continuous research for better treatment. II. Initiatives for Health Promotion Approaches (Medical, Lifestyle Behavioural, Social/Political, Environmental, Educational Empowerment) Lifestyle Behavioural Approach It aims to influence high risk people of developing sedentary lifestyle to adapt healthy lifestyle to improve health. This approach implies that each individual is responsible for their health. Example: Health promotions about proper nutrition, adequate rest, increase physical activity. Smoking and substance cessation programs. Mass media campaigns. Community centres providing various physical activity programs open to locals Educational Empowerment Approach It provides people thorough information and hones their decision making skills to choose healthy living. With greater understanding of importance of health comes change in attitude followed by a change in behavior. Example: Providing education material of cause and effects of health behaviours, counseling, group discussions, health related videos, health promotion in school setting Social/Political Approach It targets group of people or community rather than individuals. It requires support from the policy makers to formulate and implement policies to promote health. The commitment of the government to promote health policies will engage the people in the implementation of the said policies. Example: No smoking policy in public areas, within school, hospital, and work premises. Increasing tax on cigarettes/tobacco and alcoholic beverages. Anti-smoking media advertisements. Designate areas where cigarettes can be sold and a policy against sales to minors. Government subsidies on Nicotine Replacement Therapy. Food labels on imported products. The need for GP prescription for access on use of certain medications. Conclusion Disease prevention compliments health promotion efforts. Prevention is more efficient and cost effective rather than treatment. Health promotion provides people increase knowledge and understanding of the significance of taking control over their health to improve wellness. When diseases are prevented, it results to prolonged longevity of life. There will be increase independence with care, less reliance to long-term treatment, less hospitalization which means less healthcare expenditure. By choosing to address on the underlying health determinants the health problems can be lessened. Morbidity and mortality can be minimized by modifying risk factors. There is a link between people and its environment, working together as a society has a greater impact on health. Step into the shoes of 60 year old Mrs. Harris for just a moment. She was diagnosed with a severe case of diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis in both of her knees. Due to her high blood pressure, Mrs. Harris was at an intense risk of having a stroke. In addition to her health problems, she weighed in at approximately two hundred pounds, which limited her mobility. As her health began to deteriorate, so did her quality of life. Mrs. Harris did not want to hold onto life by a small thread of hope. She once pleaded to her son, " If I should start to go, don't try and save me. And don't put me in a convalescent home. That's a place of the living dead," (qtd. in Humphry, "Let" 64). As time passed, Mrs. Harris "suffered a massive stroke†¦ and was left completely paralyzed on her right side and could neither speak nor eat." One week later, the doctor announced that Mrs. Harris would never be able to speak or walk again. As though this wasn't bad enough, she suffered from her second stroke that same night. Somehow, doctors were able to stabilize her but she was pretty much a vegetable at this point (65). Now the true question was raised of whether or not to hang on to the little bit of life she had left. Between all of the loops from her dramatic health roller coaster, her son's health began to downfall as well. After many attempts to comfort her during her downward spiral, it was time to give up. He gave into the anger, frustration and sadness by shooting her in the head and ending her life (75). Thus, the controversy lies here. Was this act of euthanasia wrong or justified? How do most people wish for their death to occur? With pain, agony, suffering, and the thought of their loved ones witnessing such misery? Of course not! Most people want to die quickly and peacefully such as in the case of Mrs. Harris. It is believed that euthanasia should be legalized to some degree. This argument inquires that if you should ever have a loved one that is suffering and death is certain, you should have the choice to ease their pain if that is their desire. It is quite understandable the no one wishes to die painfully or continue in a state of constant discomfort.

Inferno - Contrapasso In Dante’s Inferno, Dante takes a journey with Virgil through the many levels of Hell in order to experience and see the different punishments that sinners must endure for all eternity. As Dante and Virgil descend into the bowels of Hell, it becomes clear that the suffering increases as they continue to move lower into Hell, the conical recess in the earth created when Lucifer fell from Heaven. Dante values the health of society over self. This becomes evident as the sinners against society experience suffering greater than those suffer which were only responsible for sinning against themselves. Dante uses contrapasso, the Aristotelian theory that states a soul’s form of suffering in Hell contrasts or extends their sins in their life on earth, to ensure that the sinners never forget their crimes against God. Even though some of the punishments the sinners in Hell seem arbitrary, they are fitting because contrapasso forces each sinner to re-live the most horrible aspect of their sin to ensure they never forget their crimes against God. As Dante and Virgil, Dante’s guide through Hell, approach the Gate of Hell, Dante reads the inscription above the gates: â€Å"Through me the way to the suffering city, through me the way to the eternal pain, through me the way that runs among the lost. Justice urged on my high artificer; my maker was divine authority, the highest wisdom and the primal love. Before me nothing but eternal things were made, and I endure eternally. Abandon every hope, who enter here.†Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   (III, 48) This message accurately describes how those souls will experience contrapasso in Hell. They will never be released and will experience suffering for eternity. The first line speaks of a... ...ouls to exist. It is a fitting punishment because he wanted to rule like God. Now he does, but he rules over the souls who could not achieve the presence of God after death. Dante efficiently uses contrapasso to punish the souls that sinned in their lifetimes. All the sinners experience ultimate suffering as they act to extend or continue their sin for eternity. The suffering in Hell is ultimately unbearable, regardless of the nature of sin. The sinners have no hope of their condition becoming any better because the only change will be at the Final Judgment. Then their punishments will be perfected because they will then have bodies and a new way to experience suffering. As a Bible major, I believe the Word of God is vital and essential and that it is the only clear direction in life. Personally, I believe by faith the Bible is true from the first word in Genesis to the last word in Revelation. However, there are times when we need physical evidence to confirm our faith proving that the Bible does not just contain interesting stories, but is based rather on historical fact. I have always been interested in archaeological findings seeing the amazing discoveries being made everyday. For instance, through these discoveries we now have confirmed evidence of the Kingdom of David, the reign of King Herod, the affirmation of biblical text shown through the Dead Sea Scrolls, and much more! In my research, I would like to examine archaeological findings that confirm the biblical accounts. The information has changed my spiritual life and I am sure it will do the same for you. Introduction I am fascinated with the information I have learned through my research and college studies concerning Archaeology. In this paper I will endeavor to relate my personal interest in the subject matter, discuss a few of my favorite archaeological finds, and then conclude with King Herod’s most cherished creation – Caesarea Maritima. Disaster Movie

This movie will take place a few years from now. Global warming has increased rapidly throughout the years as more and more people contribute to the pollutions. It will focus on the occurrences within the United States, but also little pieces throughout the world as we see the different changes. We will watch one family before, during, and after the disaster transpires. This disaster takes place throughout the entire world but we focus on the family of four living on the coast in California. The movie starts out with a prologue; a scene later in the movie.However, it actually begins with a normal morning with the family. The father is up and ready to go to work just as the children are eating their breakfast. It is a Friday and the kids are looking forward to the weekend. As the father leaves we follow him to his work. He works at a facility that dedicates themselves to researching the climates of the earth, the changes, watching rising and falling water levels, and things of the sor t. We then switch to look at the ice caps up north, drastically melting. The animals let out cries of anxiety and fear.At the same time the father has just spotted something peculiar. The water levels have risen much more than they should have in the last few hours. Somewhat anxious, he runs off to grab other scientists to help him study and evaluate this situation. The kids are just getting out of school and are heading off to the beach with their friends to hang out. Once arriving they notice something strange, there aren’t any creatures around. No squawking seagulls, no cautious crabs, nothing. They go ahead and head toward the water, thinking nothing of it.Some of them decide to lie in the sand right where the waters crash into it. One falls asleep without realizing it and ends up waking in fits of coughing. The others had been worried; he had gone completely underneath the water. The waters had risen quite a bit. The sons run off toward home to tell their parents of this scary discovery. Their father is still at work, and he and his team have discerned something big. The waters were rising at a constant rate. They could only assume the ice caps were melting due to an overload of pollutions and gases creating more heat than there should be.Frantic, they realize they don’t have long before a Tsunami approaches the shores of the United States; the ice is melting too fast. They take their research to the director in an attempt to do something about this. Everyone on the shores must be evacuated. The father will play a crucial part in this movie. His role as the scientist that notices the rising waters is very important. His children, will play as victims to this catastrophe but survive. The mother will be the one that supports them all and in the end saves her children by sacrificing herself.The major scenes in the movie will be as follows. -There are loud sirens throughout the city as people below, on the streets, panic. Everyone has just been told to evacuate the cities/state they reside in due to increasing water levels and an approaching tsunami. There are various helicopters attempting to save what people they can with the time they have left. There are two kids running toward the shore; we see someone standing there gazing at the ocean.They approach with desperation in their voices. â€Å"Mother! There you are! Please come with us, they can save us! Dad sent a chopper for us, let’s go! The mother follows after them and once at the chopper, she climbs the ladder behind them. Stray, desperate people however cling to the helicopter, weighing it down. The mother, realizing what the situation has come to, decides to save her children. She cuts the rope ladder she is on to lessen the weight of all the people so that they can escape. As this happens, there is a flashback to a week ago before everything happened. This will be how everything began. -We watch the encounters in everyone’s lives throughout the wee k along with the research and eventual discovery of the severance of the ice caps melting.As they learn of this, they first try to tell the people they must leave the state but to no avail. Thus, they try to go to someone with authority. -The governor, however, does not believe them and sends them away; threatening them that they will otherwise be arrested. – Desperate, they take to the streets and once again try and shout that everyone must leave the shores and evacuate closer to the middle of the United States. That everything will go underwater and everyone will die if they don’t leave. -The people do not listen to them though. Instead, they shout retorts at them and make fun of them.They give up and go home to think of what they can do that will work. -While they are at home they notice a storm is beginning to brew, a dangerous one at that. The sky is dark and engulfed by foreboding clouds. Concerned, the father goes to check the weather on what might be approachin g them. -A worried subordinate of the governor asks about the building storm, inquiring if maybe those people before were right about the whole global warming thing. The governor gets angry and refuses to believe that what they said was true. Talks of how just a few years ago he was told it wouldn’t happen for at least another few decades.They argue a bit more, the subordinate eventually giving up due to an urgent call for the authority. -Down in Chile, in a town called Puenta Arenas there is a group of children playing futbol along the shores. They laugh and shout happily, until they hear screams. Confused, they turn and gaze at it; mouths agape, at the sight before them. A tsunami is heading their way. The children run, screaming for their mothers and fathers. People scatter, heading toward an underground shelter (that is actually higher in elevation from the shores) for safety.They take their children, belongings; whatever they can carry. The wave hits, and those above are engulfed in the sea. The audience would not know there actually is a shelter though. -Back in the states at California, things have gotten worse. The brewing storm before is now quite violent. The rain beats down, battling with the winds. People are gawking, whether standing outside or in their homes; they all look scared or worried. Never before have they seen something like this before. -There is a group of people outside of the governor’s home, demanding to know what is going on.They continue to shout and ignore the guards in determination to get their answer. As this continues the storm worsens, sounding angrier and angrier. Inside the building, the governor stands at his window looking through his curtains; he sighs. He walks over to his desk and picks up the phone, â€Å"Yes, get me the president please. † -The two sons of the researcher are standing on their front porch, gazing at the storm through the tumultuous rain and wind. Their father comes up behind them with a strange look on his face. â€Å"What’s wrong?Did you find out what’s happening? He looks at them with uncertainty in his face, â€Å"I think†¦ too much of the ice caps have melted, everyone is going to get hit by a tsunami; worse in some places than others. We won’t get it as bad as say South America or Canada†¦ but still pretty bad. We have to do something. † As they start to go outside they realize that their mother is gone. They run out in search of her while their father goes back to the governor. -Someone in a black suit rushes up to the president â€Å"Mr. President Sir, we have an urgent phone call from the governor of California. † Surprised, the president picks up the phone, â€Å"Hello? The governor speaks with urgency â€Å"We have a problem. We need everyone on the coasts to evacuate onto higher ground.The ice caps have melted much faster than anticipated and tsunamis will be hitting the coasts everywhere because of it. † The president is silent for a few moments as he thinks this over. â€Å"But†¦ how? How can this be? It wasn’t supposed to—† The governor interrupts, â€Å"I know, it wasn’t supposed to happen for another few decades at the least. Things change; WE have made the change Sir. We have caused too much pollution to the air†¦Ã¢â‚¬  Sighing, he responds â€Å"Alright. Go ahead and warn your state.I will warn everyone else, and have them pass the word on as well. We must do this quickly. † -The father is running through the streets, darting between people and cars. He is headed toward the governor’s home to try, once again, to convince him to evacuate the cities. On his way there the sirens start to go off, along with an announcement â€Å"Everyone must leave their homes and evacuate immediately. There is an approaching tsunami that will flood the coasts. Move to higher ground. I repeat, everyone must leave their homes and e vacuate immediately. There is an approaching tsunami that will flood the coasts.Move to higher ground. † Astounded, he rushes off to his office with hope in his heart. -Panicked people run through the streets, since the roads are blocked by massive amounts of cars, toward what they believe is safety. The sons of the researcher run between the people, calling out for their mother; trying to find her before it is too late. One of the boys’ cell phone rings, it is their father. Picking it up and answering it, he finds out that his father has sent a chopper to the shore. Apparently there is a woman standing there, which he believes is their mother.They run to the shores, hoping their mother is alright. -On a group of islands called Svalbard, off the coast of Norway, trouble brews. They were nearly caught off guard, by the tsunami, which just went rampant their islands about an hour ago or so. Luckily, most of the villagers were able to run to safety; others were not so fort unate. Those which survived help one another to gather their bearings and head to somewhere safe to take care of everyone. -The scene which appeared at the beginning takes place here. Where the two boys find their mother and get on the helicopter.She sacrifices herself due to lots of people gathering on the ropes of the helicopter, desperate to be saved from the approaching tsunami, for her children. One child is shocked, but remains somewhat calm; at least on the outside. The other child screams, trying to jump out of the helicopter to save her in desperation; he is held back by his brother however. They arrive at their father’s research facility, having recovered over the shock somewhat. They go inside and head downstairs into the underground rooms which will provide safety for them and anyone else.Thankfully they were able to beat the tsunami, not only because of their mother’s sacrifice but the buildings certainly slowed it down a bit. The building starts to shake and rumble as the lights begin to flicker. People in the room scream, covering their heads. After what seems like forever, the shaking stops and everything is quiet again. â€Å"Everyone stay here. I will go upstairs and check to see if the coast is clear, alright? † the father declares. The boys stand up and say, â€Å"We’ll go too dad. We have something important to tell you too†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Nodding at them, he goes up the stairs; his sons following him. The president sets down his phone, after making the last call. Sitting back he relaxes for a moment, thinking. He thinks of what he could possibly do to help the earth out to get rid of the global warming issue. Not all of the ice even melted, when more of it does more of the world will be engulfed in water. A man in a black suit appears â€Å"Mr. President Sir, we must take you to safety. The tsunami will arrive shortly. Sighing, he looks out the window before following the man out. â€Å"Have all the other citiz ens nearby been taken care of? † Continuing to walk, the man responds, â€Å"Yes sir.We did as you asked, and brought those closest to the building to a safe vicinity. † Nodding, he walks up the stairs to where a helicopter awaits. -The boys and their father reach the top of the stairs, carefully opening the door. The view is pristine, as if the world was washed clean and born anew. Cities have gone underneath the waters, but it looks beautiful. The father walks a little further, standing in front of the boys. â€Å"So, I take it you weren’t able to save your mother? † They both clench their fists, unsure of what to say at first. â€Å"Yeah†¦ she kinda saved us†¦ there was nothing we could do about it, Dad. He turns around and looks at his boys, his face flooding with tears. â€Å"Its okay, I understand. I think she would have wanted it to be this way. †-The movie ends with overviews on the places that got hit, damages and deaths left beh ind from the tsunami. It will show help that arrives to assist the survivors with food and shelter, along with treatment for their wounds. And lastly, with a news report of how many prominent cities are now underwater. Justification for the choice of disaster. The nature of such a disaster would be Global Warming reaching its peak, and causing a disaster such as this.While it would not naturally happen this fast, unless we really do pollute it highly within the next few years. The act of something like this happening would be Mother Nature’s way of cleansing the world of the pollutants we so carelessly provided. Global warming is something we all know and are concerned about, unless you’re one of the skeptics. Global warming is the cause of excessive pollutants in the air, the causes of which are car exhausts, aerosols, air planes, and more. Our earth’s atmosphere naturally keeps heat inside to protect and heat the earth from, what would be, subzero temperatures .However, with excessive amounts being added into the atmosphere the earth is warming at a constant rate. There have been multiple impacts due to Global Warming in the past. Severe atmospheric changes causing severe storms, droughts, higher spread of diseases, and more. One example would be Hurricane Katrina. â€Å"Hurricane Katrina, which wrecked New Orleans in 2005, focused the world’s attention on the way extreme weather events can overwhelm man’s defenses† (Brown, 2007, pg. 186). The hurricane had become more dangerous due to the excessive warmth in the oceans.Another example would be countries becoming drier than it should be. It may not sound all that bad, but when its countries that are already experiencing hard times that are getting hit by this; that’s not good whatsoever. Wulf Killmann, chair of the U. N. Food and Agriculture Organization’s climate-change group said, â€Å"Africa is our greatest worry. Many countries are already in diffi culties, and we see a pattern emerging. Southern Africa is definitely becoming drier† (Brown, 2007, pg. 195). These are just a few of the issues concerning Global Warming. Others will arise as the situation worsens.Global warming will be incorporated into the film as an idea to what could happen should we let things escalate out of control; a warning, per say. So that we know that we need to do something, about this issue, before we can do nothing about it anymore. Since people do not seem to really take in the severity of an issue until it’s too late. The best way this disaster can be represented would be with CGI. Existing footage tends to work well, however, if the quality is not on par with the movie quality it will stand out and lessen the value of the film. With CGI, you can make it give you want you are expecting and make it snazzy.It’s cool if the movie looks high tech and gives a threatening image in our minds about the future, that’s what we want . Especially when it’s a film about something that can possibly happen to us; it makes people pay more attention to their surroundings and want to do something about it. But the CGI has to be done right. I have seen movies with it, and you could tell they weren’t real. This problem would be overcome to make sure it looks much like reality. There are movies out there that don’t always describe what’s going on. We need reasons for why this is happening and why now. It makes it more realistic.The concept is still good, but the presentation could have used some improvement. The disaster that will occur in the movie should be the most important part of the movie, thus, it deserves a splendid introduction, no? Poor presentation is the same thing as a rushed story, it is not as great as one that has taken time to progress and reach the climax. People enjoy suspense, and that is a good thing to use until the main attraction appears. Another thing that would be av oided would be cutting corners. A movie should be the best it can be. As such, with the right ideas and right people, it can happen.
